Woodcote Rally 13-14 July 2013

Woodcote Rally 2008 Donations Evening

This year we are in a position to donate £6,000.00 which is slightly less than in previous years and so we have concentrated our donations to the organisations within the village or close by. This now brings our total donations since we first started in 1964 to some £313,100.00.

Following the normal introduction by Mr. Roger Temple, Chairman of the Woodcote Charitable Association, the evening started off with the presentation by Mr. Martin Allwright, our new Rally Committee Chairman, of the awards to the best in class for the different types of exhibits at Rally 2008. 11 of the class winners came along to receive their trophies, some coming from far away but a large number of local people from around the Woodcote area attended showing their huge interest in the preservation of vehicles such as cars, motor bikes and not to mention, of course, steam engines.

Roger Temple then went on to conduct the important part of the evening by presenting all the cheques to the local charities and organisations who so appreciate the support that they receive, thanks to the good folk of Woodcote, supporting the Rally each year. Here are just a few of the highlights:

St Leonards Church will be putting their donation towards the cost of a new carpet in their refurbished suite.

The local Brownies and Scouts will be using their donations towards a new roof on the toilet block, advertising for new leaders and for the training of recently recruited leaders.

The Woodcote Conservation Group, whose membership is continuing to grow, will use their donation towards their insurance costs.

The Woodcote Community Centre will be buying a new carpet for the Den and the Village Hall Committee need to refurbish their kitchen.

Stoke Row Football Club’s new line marker proved to be more expensive than envisaged and so the donation will help towards the cost for that.

The Police and Fire Brigade Benevolent Funds will use their donations to help their members who are suffering from financial difficulties.

The Woodcote War Memorial Committee are to produce a high quality booklet giving the details on a separate page of each individual person listed on the memorial.

This is just, of course, a selection of the deserving causes and a full list of the 29 of them can be downloaded by clicking here. We thank all the individuals and organisations that help make the Rally possible, many of which are recognised in the list of donations.

Watch out for news of some of the exciting developments that should ensure the continued success of the Woodcote Rally, and once again, we thank you all for your continued support.
